Excerpt from Mark Stielper's foreword "How many hands did John Cash shake in his lifetime? How many stages did he stand on, towns did he visit, hearts did he cradle in those big hands? Peter Lewry has painstakingly chronicled John’s journey from Kingsland to the Kingdom in this definitive travelogue, from the Dust Bowl to the Hollywood Bowl, the big house to the White House, the rodeos, racetracks and high school gyms, the Hayloft Jamboree and Carnegie Hall. They are all here, mileposts on a road—and life—well travelled." |

Review First published in 2002 as the critically acclaimed A Johnny Cash Chronicle – I’ve Been Everywhere, this complete chronicle of the life and times of Johnny Cash has been updated and reissued and is available in download form as an e-book. A labour of love, the author Peter Lewry has painstakingly researched every conceivable event from his parent’s marriage in 1920, his birth in 1932 through to his untimely death in 2003 and beyond bringing the story right up to date with the latest record releases. In chronological order, concerts, television and radio appearances, interviews, record releases, reviews, chart positions and relevant milestones are listed in amazing detail. Whilst Peter acknowledges that to include absolutely everything or achieve 100% accuracy would be impossible, the detail shown is just incredible. With over 800 new entries, the book, which now runs to over 200 pages, is a must for all fans of Johnny Cash and it can only enhance the knowledge of even the most ardent of devotees. The book includes the original foreword by Lou Robin together with a foreword for this edition by JC historian Mark Stielper which sets the scene perfectly. Without doubt, this is the definitive and most comprehensive guide to the life and times of the great man and is highly recommended. — John Roffey |

Reviews of the first edition of the book Received a copy of the book yesterday and must congratulate you on a great job! It has certainly brought back so many memories... the trips to South Dakota, the 'Affordable Art Tour', Highwayman tours, Farm Aid appearances. Even the date when I first met John. I know the book will be received well by anyone remotely interested in Cash. — John L. Smith The books came and they look wonderful.— Lou Robin The way he was and where he was. A day-by-day (almost) dossier on the Man in Black’s whereabouts. The research deserves a hunk of we-are-not-worthy admiration. Great for Time Machine devotees. — MOJO A very hard book to review. Well it has no story, no literary style to praise or otherwise, just a mass of facts about a larger than life character, a living legend and a figure revered by country, folk and rock. Lewry must be the biggest fan any artist in any field of music must have. How he has amassed all these facts, the time researching this book has obviously taken, is beyond belief. — Country Music Round-Up An essential reference for Cashophiles, it also boasts a high browsability factor. — Time-Out Massively detailed and exhaustively researched Lewry’s copiously illustrated volume deserves a place on every popular music fan’s bookshelf. … carefully and lovingly compiled it succeeds in getting to the heart of a mighty, mighty man. Highly, highly recommended. — Get Rhythm |
